Short answer Fastest route: play MP for lower counts, finish one class at a time, and start with the shortest weapon level tracks.
1. Play the mode with the lower count
Officially, Special camo challenges adjust to the mode and count everywhere once done. Multiplayer counts are lower (e.g. Gold: 15 kills in a single match vs DMZ 100 kills in a single match; Han 86 Smoke: 20 vs 75 mounted kills), so grind counts in MP.
2. Start with short level ladders
Military camos and Special camo gates depend on weapon level. Shortest official max levels:

3. Stack challenges (our tips)
- Equip the attachment a challenge needs (suppressor, mount-friendly build) from your first match on that gun.
- Gold needs one big match: use your most comfortable build on a small, busy map.
- Platinum is per class: finish one class completely before spreading out.
- Harmonic Break needs Platinum on all 33, so the shortest-ladder weapons are the cheapest wins.

Per the official Call of Duty blog: 8 Military camos (weapon level), 3 Special camos, Gold, Platinum, Harmonic Break, then the Divergence mastery camo.
How do I unlock Gold camo in MW4?
Get 15 kills in a single Multiplayer match, or 100 kills in a single DMZ match, with that weapon.
How do I unlock Platinum?
Earn Gold on every weapon in the class, then finish the class challenge. Assault Rifles: 50 headshots in Multiplayer or 100 in DMZ.
How do Harmonic Break and Divergence unlock?
Harmonic Break needs Platinum on all 33 weapons plus a class challenge (Assault Rifles: 25 double kills in MP or 50 in DMZ). Divergence needs Harmonic Break on all 33 weapons.
Why are some challenges marked unverified?
Activision has published full Special camo challenges only for the Han 86 and Sang 9mm. For the other 31 weapons we show community-reported challenges from a pre-launch sheet, clearly flagged, because the launch patch says some in-game requirements were corrected.
